The athlete must complete this event walking with weight in each hand. A walk constitutes at least one foot in contact with the ground at all times. The weight must be off the ground and in control of the athlete before a forward advance can be made. The prescribed weight is per hand; therefore, the athlete may divide the weight in each hand as necessary.
